Product details
Corn stover is usually regarded as a “waste” material or a by-product from corn grain production. It consists of stalk, leaves, cob and husk, which are left in the field after the harvest of grain. Every year, a large number of corn grain are harvested, whereas each 35-45 bushels of corn grain per acre will produce approximately one ton corn stover per acre. What’s more important, corn stover has many important characteristics, it is typically composed of 38% cellulose, 26% hemi-cellulose, 19% lignin, 4% acid detergent lignin, 5% crude protein and 6% ash. The lignin and water-soluble carbohydrates in stover make it easier to be pelletized without binders than some energy crops, such as switchgrass or miscanthus with low lignin content. It is clear that the corn stover as biomass energy is renewable and it will do great help if we can utilize this endless energy.
